KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh allowed a constitutional petition filed by R&I Electrical Appliances, Smartek World, Gillani Corporation and others and ordered provisional release.
The Federal Secretary, FBR, Chairman FBR, Collector of Customs, Appraisement, East, West, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, Director General and Director Valuation are respondents in the petition.
At the outset of proceedings, Sakhawat Rana Advocate from Dr Shahab Imam Law Associates said that Revision Application challenging Valuation Ruling 1628/2022 is pending before the Director General Valuation, Pakistan Customs.
He prayed for provisional release of goods and said Petitioners are ready to deposit un_disputed quantum of duty and taxes with the department while disputed differential amount with NazirĀ of SHC.
The bench was also informed of accumulating port charges. The bench as an interim arrangement allowed the request with direction that once disputed amount is secured in shape of pay order and undisputed amount with Collectorate concerned, the goods be released provisionally.
