GWADAR: Customs Gwadar has foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics in-country and recovered 435kg high quality charas worth Rs100 million.

According to details, Customs staff signaled a truck carrying scrap at Khurkhera check post main RCD highway. However, the driver of the vehicle sped away.

Customs staff chased the vehicle, and the driver left the vehicle on the side of the road and escaped. Detailed checking of the vehicle led to recovery of huge quantity of high quality charas from the secret cavities of the vehicle. An FIR is lodged and investigations are underway.

It may be mentioned here that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Member Customs Tariq Huda have advised the field formations to strictly deter smuggling.  Recently, Customs had recovered large quantity of narcotics on the same route.

The operation was conducted by the team formed by Collector Javed Chaudry, on the directives of Chief Collector Gul Rehman.
