HYDERABAD: Customs Hyderabad has initiated the drive of cleansing the Collectorate from delinquent / miscreants amongst the staff (serving and retired) which resulted in compromising of potential seizures of smuggled goods.

In this regard, action has been initiated against Retired Intelligence Officer of Directorate of I&I Hyderabad Syed Shafique Ali for threatening, black-mailing the customs staff, misusing the name of agencies and generating frivolous complaints for ulterior motives besides his alleged involvement in clandestine removal of seized goods from state warehouse.

Customs Hyderabad’s Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) formations have launched a campaign against smuggling during the current month.

Through intensified efforts and in coordination with LEAs, the Collectorate has succeeded in making out remarkable number of seizures of smuggled goods and non duty paid vehicles worth Rs.160 Million during the month (upto 27th September 2021).

During the period, the Collectorate has conducted intelligence / information based targeted operations against organized smuggling. The Collectorate has also employed prevention strategy by curbing movement of contraband goods under able guidance of Dr. Sadiqullah Khan, Collector, through active information sharing with ASOs field units.
