KARACHI: MCC Appraisement East has lodged an FIR against M/s Bin Bakar Enterprises and other accomplices for mis-declaring quantity, value and description of imported goods to evade government revenue.
M/s Bin Bakar Enterprises filed Goods Declaration through their authorized agent for the consignment declared to be consisted of assorted body lotion and deodorant sprays at the total invoice value of $24,499.98.
The importer determined the liability and paid the duty and taxes. On the directives of Collector East Fayyaz Rasool, Additional Collector Afzal Wattoo marked the consignment for scrutiny to confirm whether the importer had paid the legitimate due amount of due and taxes.
The examination and re-examination of the consignment established that the accused M/s Bin Bakar Enterprises with connivance of clearing agents contravened provisions of Customs Act in order to evade government revenue to the tune of Rs44.35 million.
FIR is lodged for in-depth investigation into the matter and to unearth the actual culprits involved in attempt to evade legitimate duty/taxes.
Collector Fayaz Rasool has appreciated R&D team comprising PA Aijaz Butt, SPO Malak Hashim, AOs Altaf-ur-Rehman, Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto and Asif Jameel and advised the staff to increase check and balance on the imported consignments.
