KARACHI: Sharjeel Jamal of UTrade Logistics has sharply criticized the Customs Risk Management System (RMS) and flaws in WeBOC system saying the system was vulnerable to manipulations causing loss to the national exchequer.

Sharjeel Jamal said he made several complaints to former Chef Collector Abdul Rasheed Shaikh and current Chief Collector Srayya Ahmed Butt about the flaws in Risk Management System (RMS) and misuse of Green Channel facility.

He said RMS and Customs officers were intentionally ignoring the misuse of green channel facility, and were only focused on petty cases.

He said a few Customs officers were controlling the RMS and they changed the profile of items (PCT) into red and green without any proper research.

He said the largest money laundering was undertaken through over-invoicing solar panels import and equipment imported for power plants, adding several complaints were made but no action was taken.

He said PRAL was completely in control of the system as Customs officials and officers were non-technical people.

He said the WeBOC system and green channel should be audited by an independent Chartered Accountant firm, which would clear the picture.
