KARACHI: The judgment was reserved in a bunch of petitions filed against issuance of show cause notices by Sales Tax Authorities in violation of section25/72 of the Sales Tax Act 1990.
A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Junaid Ghaffar and Justice Agha Faisal earlier on Friday heard the counsel for petitioners. The petitioners including Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited impugned the show cause notices issued on allegation of short payment.
The petitioners contends that the authority concerned is not vested with the power to issue show cause without initiating audit proceedings in terms of section 25 (Commissioner Inland Revenue) or section 72 (Federal Board of Revenue-FBR).
The bench on previous dates have heard arguments from counsel representing different petitioners and today a number of counsel submitted synopsis of their arguments after which the judgment was reserved.
