KARACHI: Hearing two identical constitution petitions filed by five companies including Global Trading Company, Danny Technology, Uni Champion Trading, Gerrys Global Trade and Wajahat Electronics, a customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) ordered Chief Collector Customs South to be in attendance on Oct 05.

The bench earlier heard counsel from law firm Franklin Law Associates representing the petitioners who submitted that petitioner filed petitions earlier which were heard on 17-9-2020 and deciding the same, the bench asked the petitioners to approach the Custom Authorities for provisional release of their consignments. The petitioners approached the relevant officials. Assistant Collector, MCC Appraisment & Facilitation, East made a final assessment without provisional assessment and declined the request for provisional release, the counsel from Franklin Law Associates submitted adding that action by the custom authorities is in violation of the order passed by the SHC on 17-9-2020.

The bench after hearing the petitioner’s counsel at length ordered issuance of pre-admission  notices to the respondents including Chairman FBR, Chief Collector Customs, South, MCC Appraisement, Collector Customs Appraisement, West, Port Qasim, Director General Valuation and Director Valuation.
