KARACHI: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Pakistan Customs, Preventive was restrained from taking any coercive action against Global Textile & Towel Corporation and Messers Zubair Corporation.
A bench comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan earlier heard counsel from Franklin Law Associates representing Global Textile. The counsel contended that petitioner company imported a consignment of Cutch Block from Singapore, paid duty and taxes and got the consignment cleared. The consignment was being transported when the ASO officials intercepted it and the container and cotton of previous consignment were taken away by them.
The counsel expressed apprehension of involving petitioner into false and fictitious case adding that action by the ASO was without notice and after raid, the petitioner was not confronted with any allegation.
The bench while ordering no action against the petitioners ordered issuance of pre-admission notices to the respondents for Oct 06.
The same bench on Wednesday hearing a petition filed by Messers Zubair Corporation represented by Franklin Law Associates on identical facts and ground issued pre-admission notices to the ASO and Collectorate of East and West for Oct 06 while ordering no coercive action against the petitioner. The bench also sought comments from the respondents by next date of hearing.
