KARACHI: Anti-smuggling Organization (ASO) of MCC Preventive Karachi conducted a raid on Yusuf Plaza in Bolton Market and recovered large quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs30 million. A raid had been conducted on Yusuf Plaze few days ago and smuggled goods had been recovered.
On the directives of Chief Collector Enforcement Saifuddin Junejo, Collector Preventive Saquif Saeed has expedited the anti-smuggling drive and raids are constantly being conducted at the warehouses and markets housing smuggled goods.
Information was passed through Collector Saquif Saeed to Additional Collector Haroon Waqar Malik and Deputy collector Muhammad Asim Awan regarding presence of smuggled goods at Yusuf Plaza in Bolton market.
A team headed by Superintendent ASO Iftikhar Hasan was formed to raid the market. Subsequently, large quantity of foreign origin cigarettes, cigars, Indian gutka and cosmetics were recovered. Superintendent Admin Jamal Zia lodged the FIR.
Collector Saquif Saeed has advised ASO Preventive to pursue the anti-smuggling campaign without any pressure. Collector assured the staff of full support adding that there would be no transfers and bad postings for performing officers/officials as it happened in past.
