KARACHI: MCC Appraisement East has detected under invoicing in green channel consignments and recovered Rs9.7 million of government’s legitimate revenue.
Information was received through Collector Nadeem Memon to Additional Collector Rizwan Bashir regarding under-invoicing in the import and clearance of Electrolytic Tin Plates (ETP), a GD pertaining to M/s Ali Containers was placed on hold.
Deputy Collector Raana Arsalan and Principal Appraiser Ibrahim khan conducted physical examination of the goods and scrutiny of all aspects including documents attached with the GDs, it was observed that importer has misused the facility of self assessment by not applying actual assessable value of the goods. The information was therefore found correct.
PRV of the past consignments of the importer was also conducted which revealed that previously importer had cleared 06 identical consignment on lower value. GDs were therefore re-assessed in the WeBOC system and recoveries were initiated.
The efforts of the R&D section resulted into recovery of additional duty and taxes of Rs. 9.75 million, which has been deposited in government exchequer.
