KARACHI: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) of MCC Preventive Karachi has expedited its campaign against smuggling and seized huge quantity of goods including endangered birds.

Collector Preventive Saquib Saeed has advised Deputy Collector Akbar Jan and Superintendent Jamal Zia to tighten vigilance on the movement of smuggled goods. IPS Iftikhar Hasan and his team has played a pivotal role in these operations.

Acting on credible information, ASO Preventive, Karachi Seized a Trailer containing 20 Tons of foreign origin prime quality Raisin at Mochku choke point. The value of seized raisin is Rs11.4 million, while the total value of seizure is Rs20.4 million.

During joint checking with Sindh Rangers at Moachko choke point, ASO Preventive seized 8 Falcons valuing  Rs12 million, and 11 Houbara Bustards worth Rs1.1 million. The bird is on the endangered list of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).  The birds will be handed over to wildlife department after completion of codal formalities.

Moreover, ASO had a ground breaking operation against smuggled medicine and recovered Indian medicine worth Rs21 million. It may be mentioned here that there is trade lock between Pakistan and India.
