KARACHI: A sudden call for boycott of court proceedings on Friday lead to disruption of routine proceedings at all Courts of Karachi including Sindh High Court, City Court Complex, Special Courts under administrative control of federal government and others here on Friday.
The lawyers are observing a strike to express solidarity with the lawyer of Lahore who were arrested and booked under Anti Terrorism Act and other criminal charges for arson and damage to public property art Punjab Institute of Cardiology on Wednesday after a video of a doctor went viral on social media criticizing lawyers over a small incident around Monday last.
Three patients requiring emergency treatment due to heart attack lost their lives as all entry points to the PIC were blocked and lawyers fought pitched battle with Punjab Police which tried to disperse them from hospital. The Out Door and Emergency Department of PIC was damaged during the attack by hundreds of lawyers.
The initially divided lawyer community now stand united as more than 80 lawyers from Lahore have been arrested and charged of terrorism.
The hundreds of under trial prisoners were sent back as hearing was adjourned due to lawyers strike.
