KARACHI: A custom appellate bench of High Court of Sindh will hear contempt of court applications against officials of Directorate of Intelligence and Investigations (I&I) on Nov 28 as it issued notices to the alleged contemnors as well as Deputy Attorney General.

The bench earlier heard Zain Jatoi advocate who appeared along with Rana Sakhawat advocate and submitted that despite order of the court and verbal warning, the alleged contemnors obstructed the release of the consignments of the petitioners which were admittedly meant for Karachi Export Processing Zone. The counsel referred to a number of constitutional petitions filed by the same petitioner in respect of its consignments and argued that SHC disposed of their petitions through a short order asking the respondents to conduct themselves strictly in accordance with law while petitioners were asked to cooperate with the investigations and also to join adjudication proceedings before the Collector Export (KEPZ). The DIT officials in order to save their own skin and to harass the petitioners lodged FIRs after court order and thus exposed themselves to contempt proceedings.

The bench after hearing detailed arguments ordered issuance of show cause notices to respondents I&I officials as well as DAG for Nov 28.
