KARACHI: The Collector of Customs, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim (PMBQ) was ordered to be in attendance on Nov 06  before the Customs Appellate bench of High Court of Sindh if he fails to implement an order passed by the bench ordering release of consignments of Chaudhry Steel Re-Rolling Mills Pvt Limited.

Rayan Zia and Imran Iqbal advocates of law firm Expert Law appearing for the petitioner submitted that in spite of orders passed by Special Customs Appellate Tribunal and hierarchy of Pakistan Customs in favor of the petitioner company and order passed by SHC bench on 22-8-2019 in SCRA 442/2018 filed by the department, respondents were not implementing the said order.

They maintained that they have written a letter to Collector PMBQ to implement the order of the court  but needful was not done.

The bench after arguments while issuing pre-admission notices for Nov 06 asked them to file comments. The respondents were also asked to ensure compliance of the order unless a restraining order is passed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The bench further noted in the order that if Collector PMBQ fails in implementing orders of SHC then he shall be in attendance on next date of hearing i.e 6-11-2019.
