QUETTA: Haji Sadiq Khan Achakzai, the notorious smuggler and prime accused in the murder of Deputy Collector Dr. Abdul Qudos Shaikh, has been invited as the chief guest at 5th All Pakistan Syed Muhammad Agha Football Tournament. Sector Commander North Brigadier Liaquat Ali is also among the guests of honor.
Haji Sadiq Khan is an office bearer of a trade association in Baluchistan, and he is wanted in several FIRs lodged by Customs pertaining to smuggling and other criminal activities.
An official said that certain unscrupulous and criminal elements had formed trade associations to cover their wrongdoings and pressurize the government functionaries.
These associations often organize various sports and similar events and invite military officers, political influential and other bureaucrats at these events to develop their contacts. Official said the military officers were not aware of the true face of people like Haji Sadiq and attended these events to promote sports activities.
Criminal elements like Haji Sadiq take advantage of the simplicity of these highly professional officers and invite the officers to gain mileage.
Sources said in view of this Prime Minister Imran Khan in consultation with COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa decided to form Customs Intelligence Authority to deal with the menace of smuggling through borders and neutralize elements like Haji Sadiq Khan Achakzai.
