KARACHI: MCC Appraisement West has lodged FIR against several persons for preparation of fake and fabricated Goods Declaration (GDs) in One Customs to get the registration of smuggled vehicles.

Information was received through Collector Wajid Ali that certain clearing agents are engaged in the fabrication of bogus/fake goods declaration (GD) in One Customs while claiming illegal provisions of Section 79(I)(b) of the Customs Act to get registration of smuggled vehicles on the basis of bogus data.

The accused are also known to have partnered with officials of Excise & Taxation and various registration authorities in the country.

Collector Appraisement West Wajid Ali advised Additional Collector Aamir Theim to pursue the case. Subsequently a team was formed headed by Assistant Collector Muhammad Rizwan and comprising Principal Appraiser Shafiullah and Appraising Officer Ghani Soomro to make investigations.

Preliminary inquiry on the basis of supplied documents by the respective Motor Registration Authorities (MRAs) revealed that 16 vehicles were registered on the basis of fake and fabricated documents in connivance with officials of provincial Excise and Taxation authority without verification of Customs clearance.

It is established that M/s Trade & Transport International deliberately prepared the Goods Declaration with fake particulars in the PRAL system through authorized ID in connivance with importers as well as officials of MRAs.

Investigations are underway to identify actual beneficiaries, persons, entities involved in this offence.
