KARACHI: Pre-admission notices were issued for Oct 04 to Deputy Attorney General and respondent customs officials including Directorate of Intelligence and Investigations (DIT) here on Thursday.
Earlier an appellate bench comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan heard a counsel from Franklin Law Associates appearing for the petitioner company A.K International which imported a consignment of textile fabrics.
The counsel submitted that petitioner lawfully imported the consignment which was subjected to physical examination and lab test by the custom authorities. He alleged that respondent custom officials held the consignment at the instigation of the D.I.T and consignment is being held without assigning any reason.
He further maintained that D.I.T has no jurisdiction over consignment at port during assessment. He prayed to the court to direct the custom authorities for processing the Goods Declaration filed by the petitioner/importer.
The bench while issuing pre-admission notices to the respondents as well as DAG also ordered processing and release of consignment if no contravention or violation of custom laws was found. The bench also restrained the respondents from any coercive action against the importer/petitioner till next date of hearing.
