KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has barred Inland Revenue officers from meeting taxpayers in their offices.
In pursuance of international best practices to facilitate the taxpayers by minimizing contact between the taxpayers and tax collectors and to ensure transparency; authority directed that Dedicated Hearing Rooms / Cubicles should be immediately established and made operational at all Large Taxpayers Units (LTUs) and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs).
Hearings in all cases must he conducted in these dedicated hearing rooms. No hearing should be conducted in offices by officers and officials, a notification said.
Taxpayers and authorized representatives would only be allowed access to offices of Commissioners and Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue.
Any visitor intending to visit any officer/official will have to enter particulars into visitors’ register at the reception desk after which entry will be allowed after issuance of necessary permission.
