KARACHI: Hearing a contempt of court application filed by Sahara Welfare Organization against Chief Collector Customs Surayyia But, Karachi, Collector of Customs, Appraisement, East Nadeem Memon, Deputy Collector R& D and Deputy Collector Appraisement, East, a customs appellate bench of High  Court on Friday put the alleged contemnors on notice of contempt of court.

The petitioner moved the application that four containers containing donated miscellaneous items imported by the petitioner/applicant were detained by the custom officials on ground that these are in commercial quantity.

The court has ordered release but the order was not being implemented against which the instant application was filed. The consignments arrived in August 2018 just ahead of commencement of winter but remain detained at port. Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate appearing for the petitioner today argued the contempt application after which the bench ordered issuance of notices to the alleged contemnors for May 21.
