PESHAWAR: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Peshawar Customs has recovered large quantity of smuggled dry fruits worth millions of rupees from the warehouse of PTI Senator Mohsin Aziz.
Information was passed through Collector Peshawar Saeed Laghmani and Additional Collector Ghulam Mustafa regarding presence of non-duty paid goods at a warehouse. Subsequently, Assistant Collector Shahid Khan along with his team comprising Superintendent Nasir Bukhari and Inspectors Zia-ur-Rehman, Gohar Ali and Nazim Ali Shah raided the premises and recovered around 20 tons of Indian origin dry fruits including almonds, pistachio and cashew.
It may be mentioned here revenue recovery to the tune of millions of rupees is already outstanding against PTI Senator Mohsin Aziz. Sources said the Customs authorities are under immense pressure to let go the case. It is due to this reason that an FIR could not be lodged against the accused on Friday.
This incident would add to the problems of already troubled Prime Minister Imran Khan, whom welcomed deep pockets to his ranks without knowing their businesses and sources of their income.
It was also learnt that several parliamentarians including ministers belonging to PTI, PML-N, PPP and other political parties are involved in the trade of non-custom-paid luxury vehicles and other smuggled goods.
