KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan on Monday stayed collection of 3 per cent additional sales tax at import stage as already an interim order passed in another identical petition 1089 of 2016 is holding field.
The bench also ordered issuance of notices to the respondents for May 22. The bench earlier heard Miss Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate representing Holosun Chemicals. The petitioner challenged the Rule 58 B of the Sales Tax (Amendment) 2007. She relying on the order passed in earlier petition and also in dozens of identical petitions and claimed the same relief.
The bench allowed the request and while restraining the respondents from collecting the additional sales tax and deferred further hearing till May 21 when all petitions will be heard.
