KARACHI: The appellate bench of High Court of Sindh hearing cases of income tax etc was seized with dozens of fresh petitions against tax departments particularly Sindh Revenue Board which issued notices for tax recovery to businessmen and traders giving them short notice in some cases of just two days.[the_ad id=”31605″]The particular sections provide notice of 30 days to the payers but in order to meet revenue targets, notices without any reason are being issued, submitted a host of lawyers who sought permission of the court for urgent hearing.

The bench passed due orders in these petitions. The business community expressed concern over demand notices maintaining that markets are already under pressure with business, trade and other commercial activities are at lowest ebb and in such a scenario, the arbitrary actions by tax authorities will further pollute the business atmosphere.

More petitions are likely to be filed in next few days.
