KARACHI: A notice for recovery of rupees 83 million issued against Arif Brothers was suspended on Tuesday by a customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi.

A counsel from Franklin Law Associates appearing for the petitioner company submitted that consignment was released in 2018 after detailed examination and thus no recovery can be raised now. An ONO is also holding the field which has been challenged in an appeal pending before Special Customs Appellate Tribunal. The counsel prayed for the suspension of the recovery notice.

The bench allowing the request suspended the notice issued by the Deputy Collector, East while issuing notice to the respondents for April 12.
