KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Abdul Malik Gaddi fixed April 30 to hear arguments in detail from petitioner as well as Pakistan Customs, Directorate of Valuation in a petition filed by Rabia Corporation.

The bench on Tuesday heard a counsel from Franklin Law Associates who maintained that Valuation Ruling (VR) was issued in year 2013 and since then no new VR was being issued in violation of existing rules. The bench noted with concern that why new VR was not issue and why procedure provided under relevant laws including sequential determination was not being followed.

The bench after partial hearing treating the petition as being part heard directed the contesting parties to place all relevant documents as well as judgments passed by SHC in identical matters so that issue of inordinate delay in issuance of VR is sorted out saving the importers from un-necessary hurdles.
