KARACHI: All the guns are facing the media industry. In the most recent development, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has attached the bank accounts of M/S Independent Media Corporation, the Jang Group.
Inland Revenue – FBR had earlier served notice on M/S Independent Media Corporation, the Jang Group for recovery of government dues including default surcharge and penalty.
Faced with multiple issues including choked revenue lines and excessive censorship, the Group failed to submit the demanded sums of Rs447.19 million, therefore, the tax authorities attached the bank accounts of M/s Independent Media Corporation.
This development would further add to the miseries of the employees of Jang Group, who are already facing pay-cuts, lay-offs and delayed payment of salaries. [the_ad id=”32940″]
