KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has initiated checking and scrutinizing the trucks and trailers leaving the port to confirm compliance of axel load regime instructions of Motorway Police and National Highways Safety Ordinance.
“As a procedure, the dispatch of cargo from port on trucks is being scrutinized/checked to comply axel load regime instructions of Motorway Police and National Highways Safety Ordinance. In this regard, trucks and trailers having excessive load are being asked to comply with the aforesaid regime at Karachi Port Trust (KPT) weighbridge prior to leaving the port,” a statement said.
Trucks associations had already been advised time and again to comply with the axel load regime during loading of cargo to ensure road safety in order to obviate road damages. [the_ad id=”31605″]
The statement said members of trucks associations had been were informed during a meeting at KPT head office on January 13, 2019 about the scrutiny. It said the activity at the port was normal, and this axle load checking exercise did not obstruct the other activities at the port.
