QUETTA: MCC Quetta Air Freight Unit (AFU) has foiled an attempt to smuggle out foreign currency and arrested one person.
Information was passed that attempt would be made to smuggle foreign currency by way of concealment and misdeclaration.
The AFU Quetta was vigilant and spotted a person, identified as Hafeezullah flying to Dubai. He did not declare the currency and moved to departure lounge after getting the boarding pass.
However, the Customs staff recovered UAE Dirham and Saudi Riyal worth Rs3.1 million, for which the accused could not provide any proof of legal possession.
The currency was seized and FIR was lodged against the accused.
In another incident, currency worth Rs5.0 million was recovered from two persons at border gate Chaman by customs and FC authorities.
Both person were arrested.
