ISLAMABAD: FPCCI’s presidential candidate Engr. Daroo Khan Achakzai on Monday said the government should accelerate reforms in the FBR to reduce poverty.

Reforms in the Apex tax agency will also facilitate production and exports which will result in prosperity, he said.

Engr. Daroo Khan Achakzai said that the tax system is still heavily tilted while indirect taxation has reached ninety percent resulting in increased poverty.

The government should try to make the tax system just and equitable so that proper distribution of wealth can be ensured, he added.

He said that the policy of milking business community should be reconsidered and they should also be facilitated which is the only way to make country self-reliant.

The business leader said that reforms will help restore the confidence of the business community which will reflect positively in the budget.

The business community can only deliver when it is at peace of mind for which they should be regarded as partners in the bumpy journey to the development.

He also noted with concern that the industrial sector is going down which should be strengthened through policy interventions while expatriates should be considered an important asset.

The issues of expats should be resolved on a preferential basis and the legal money transfers should be eased so that they can send more foreign exchange to the country.
