KARACHI: Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Tribunal of Pakistan Customs on Monday restrained the IPR Customs from destroying alleged counterfeit watches of different international brands. The tribunal also ordered issuance of notices to the respondents for Nov 06.

Earlier the tribunal heard a lawyer from Franklin Law Associates representing FAS trading, importer of the consignments in dispute. The counsel submitted that fake power of attorneys were used to file and obtain decree. He submitted that under SRO 1170 of 2014, complainant has to submit an amount of rupees 500,000 along-with complaint. He alleged that old invoice of payment was used to supportthe complaint which amounts to fraud and concealment.

The IPR Tribunal after initial arguments granted stay in 10 cases out of 12 while putting the respondent custom officers on notice for Nov 06.
