KARACHI: Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar of High Court of Sindh on Monday admitted an accused in gutka smuggling case to protective bail against a surety of rupees 50,000.
According to details, Anti Smuggling Organisation (ASO) of Pakistan Customs, Preventive intercepted two Suzuki pickups on 12-6-2018 on Mauripur road. The search of the vehicles lead to the recovery of 726,750 pouches of Gutka of Indian origin.
The drivers of both the vehicle stated to have fled away seeing the raiding party. The Customs after investigations booked applicant/accused Muhammad Qasim Khan and Essa Gul. Essa Gul was later arrested while Qasim Khan remained at large. The accused/applicant in the meanwhile moved the instant application for protective bail (bail before arrest).
The bench after hearing the arguments by the counsel for applicant/accused granted protective bail against solvent surety of rupees 50,000.
