KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Chaudhry Adnan Ahmed yesterday allowed a request made by counsel for Karachi International Contained Terminal (KICT) seeking a week time to settle the dispute of huge demurrage.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by Rising Sun Construction Company which seeks release of prime movers imported by the company some two years back. The consignment was ordered to be in-bonded which resulted in a huge demurrage.

As the petitioner/importer expressed inability to pay the heavy demurrage, it requested for reducing the demurrage.

As the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, the counsel for KICT sought a week time submitting that the KICT and importer are trying to settle the matter.

The bench allowing the request adjourned further proceedings indefinitely.
