KARACHI: A bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) sought written explanation from Director Intellectual Property Right (IPR) Directorate of Pakistan Customs on or before Sept 17.
The bench was hearing a suit filed by FAS Enterprises which imported different items including children watches, gifts, battery cells etc.
The consignment was detained on the basis of an alleged complaint that importer is violating the IPR. The plaintiff maintains that out of entire consignment contained in a container only three cartons were under alleged complaint but still the IPR department is not releasing the same on one or another pretext. The genuine-ness of complaint and complainant also needs to be verified, contended the counsel from Franklin Law Associates representing the plaintiff.
The bench after perusing the application against non-release of items putting of further proceedings till Sept 17 ordered Director IPR, Pakistan Customs to submit a written explanation by the next date of hearing stating reasons for holding the consignment.
