KARACHI: As the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has been unable to incorporate the recently notified amendments in the WeBOC system, the imported consignments of textile industry raw material are piling up awaiting clearance.
It may be mentioned here that Federal Government in the federal budget 2018-19 has divided the HS code pigment, an essential raw material for textile industry, into three more PCT headings. However, these changes have not been updated in the WeBOC system in SRO 1125(I)/2011. Due to this, the imported consignments of raw material pigment are not getting the benefit of sales tax exemptions and imported clearance of these goods has been adversely affected.
The Karachi Customs Agents Association has requested the authorities to update the three newly formed PCT headings 3204.1790, 3204.1720, 3204.1710 of Pigment into the system to ensure smooth clearance of the textile industry raw material.
