KARACHI: Directorate General of Customs Intelligence & Investigation (I&I), Islamabad has informed Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) that despite the directives to surrender of all above 1300cc vehicles to the relevant State warehouse, several officers are still in possession of such vehicles.

A number of officers of Customs Intelligence & Investigations are in possession of luxury vehicles and these officers  are keeping these vehicles at their homes. Vehicles received in grant by USAID and other agencies for operational purposes are now under personal use of officers.

Customs I&I informed FBR that Amjad Zubair Tiwana Special Assistant to Chairman FBR is still in possession of a Toyota Hilux Surf; Arshad Hayat Staff Officer of Chairman FBR is using Toyota Prado; Dr. Mohammad Adnan Akram Director Training Lahore is using Toyota Hilux Surf, a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 and a Toyota Premeio-X, while Muhammad Saleem Chief (F&C), FBR is still in possession of a Toyota Premio car.

Customs I&I noted that the above mentioned officers were in defiance of Chief Justice of Pakistan’s order but the Board has not taken any action against them.

Customs I&I further informed that around 40 vehicles of above 1300cc engines had been de-operationalized.
