KARACHI: Model Customs Quetta with its extra ordinary efforts launched crackdown against betel nut smuggling and recovered goods worth Rs50 million.
At Lakpass Check Post a Bowser (Capsule) bearing Reg: No. TLG-453 intercepted by the Staff of Lakpass check post the driver instead of parking vehicle accelerated the vehicle and at few distance he stopped the vehicle on the side of the link road and ran away taking advantage of darkness. Checking resulted in recovery of large quantity of nuts. Meanwhile, at Baleli Check Posts/ Darakhsha Bolan and Mobile Squads at Quetta Chamman road also recovered tons of betel nuts. The worth of the said seized goods are around Rs50 million.
FBR encourages and supports the efforts of anti smuggling wings of Customs in fighting organized crime through effective initiatives such are improvement of staff capacity, check posts and mobile squads, said the Head of the Model Custom Collector Quetta Ashraf Ali in Quetta.
He also appreciated the role of Additional Collectors Samil Ul Haq and Zubair Shah, Deputy Collector Preventive Maqbool Baloch, Superintendents Maqsood Durrani, Niamat Kakar, Inspectors Ghulam Hussain Khoso, Fida Jimali, Muhammad Shabir Khan, Essa Khan Abdul Qahir, Muhammad Saleem, Qurban Hussain, Anser Mehmud, Mir Qalam and other staff in the field.
