KARACHI: Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed Federal investigation Agency (FIA) and Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to conduct a joint inquiry into the allegations of corruption and mis-conduct against Director General Customs Intelligence & Investigation, Shaukat Ali.

An official of Customs Intelligence & Investigation Syed Aamir Shabbir had approached the court submitting that a number of complaints were moved by him regarding corruption and malpractice against Shaukat Ali and his front man Mushtaq Sarghana. He submitted that after the complaints were moved, Syed Aamir Shabbir was receiving threat calls to withdraw the complaints and the petition.

Shabbir submitted before the court, that he had approached the Customs high-ups and Chairman FBR but no action was taken, instead Shabbir was subject to departmental victimization.

Syed Aamir Shabbir prayed to the court that FIA and Chairman FBR may be directed to decide the complaints filed by him in the interest of justice, equity and fair play.

He further prayed to the court that Chairman FBR may be directed to initiate lawful proceedings agsinst Director General Shaukat Ali and other concerned quarters may be restrained from taking any coercive measures against him.
