KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Agha Faisal on Friday ordered release of a consignment of cable and other scrap within 24 hours after the petitioner/ importer submit security deposit against dues of demurrage.
The bench earlier heard Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate appearing for Mohsin & Waqar Brothers who maintained that the SHC way back in Oct 2013 has ordered provisional release of the consignment but same was not released and due to delay demurrage reached rupees 3.3 million (APL Shipping) while dues in relation to South Asia Port Terminal accumulated to the tune of rupees 1.1 million.
The counsel for petitioner expressed readiness to submit security against the disputed dues.
The bench in order to resolve the old controversy allowed the request ordering the respondents to release the consignment if the petitioner submits security equal to dues with the nazir of the SHC.
