KARACHI: Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh of Lahore High Court has issued a contempt notice to Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Tariq Pasha and fixed the hearing for December 15, 2017.

The Lahore High Court heard the contempt application of Customs Intelligence & Investigation official Syed Amir Shabbir against Chairman FBR Tariq Pasha on December 13, 2017 on urgent cause basis.

Amir Shabbir was working as spy in Customs Intelligence at Gujranwala, but he was transferred to MCC Sialkot. Amir Shabbir challenged the transfer for being in violation of wedlock policy before the Lahore High court. The court disposed of his petition while directing the FBR to attend to the grievance of the petitioner strictly in accordance with law, rules and policy.

Amir Shabbir submitted in the application that Court directed the respondent to decide his appeal preferably within one month from, but no order was passed despite lapse of a month. FBR and its functionaries instead of deciding the pending appeal of petitioner and complying with the order of the Court were harassing the petitioner while extending the threats of dire-consequences to him, for which petitioner had already submitted an application to FBR but no action has so far been taken by him.

Chairman FBR despite the clear cut order of the Court not only willfully, avoiding to decide the case of the petitioner but also delaying the matter on one pretext or the other for the reasons best known to him.

Amir Shabbir maintained that FBR and its functionaries were not working under the law but they have done so with ulterior motives and committed Contempt of Courts and are liable to be punished.

Court passed the order to decide his appeal in accordance with law on 23-10-2017 but the action has not been made which is an act amounting to gross Contempt of this Court. FBR has not followed the clear direction of Court and this act is clearly an abuse of process of law and an attempt to undermine the course of justice as well as discrimination.

It may be mentioned that Syed Aamir Shabbir had filed a complaint with Member Admin-FBR mentioning rampant corruption in the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence & Investigation. The complaint mentioned that corrupt and bad reputed officials/officers were being posted at the directorates under Directorate General of Customs Intelligence & Investigation, who were patronizing unscrupulous elements for obvious reasons.
