KARACHI: Customs Intelligence Quetta has foiled an attempt to smuggle contrabands and seized foreign origin charas worth Rs20 million.
Information was received through Director Irfan Javed that huge quantity of foreign origin charas will be smuggled through a Toyota Corolla Car. On the instructions of Director Irfan Javed, Deputy Director Abdul Mueed formed a team comprising Superintendent Fareed-ud-Din, Intelligence Officer Shabbir Ahmed and others. The staff spotted the said car and signaled it to stop near Baleli Check Post, Butims University Quetta, but the driver attempted to speed away.
Thereupon, the staff chased the speeding Car. Noticing that staff’s vehicle is chasing the car, the driver abruptly stopped the car and jumped out and managed to escape.
The vehicle was brought to the office of the Directorate and a thorough search led to the recovery of 220 Kgs of Charas concealed beneath the floor and dashboard/seats of the vehicle. No registration book was recovered during the search of the said Car.
FIR has been lodged against unidentified accused and investigations are underway.
