KARACHI: A customs appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Omar Sial on Thurday ordered officials of Directorate of Intelligence and Investigations (DIT), Pakistan Customs to produce two vehicles before the court on Nov 16.

The bench first heard a petition filed by Fahad Bangash who challenged the confiscation of a Toyota Land Cruiser, model 1992 on allegation of being smuggled one. The senior member of the bench referred/recalled order passed by him in a Special Customs Reference Election (SCRA) 263 0f 2010 and said that it was astonishing that the customs is detaining 22 year old model. The bench ordered officer concerned to produce the vehicle before the Nazir of SHC on Nov 16.

The same bench hearing an identical petition filed by oneMansoor Bhagwani against confiscation of a Toyota X vehicle which he claimed to have purchased from a motor show room, ordered custom officer concerned to produce the vehicle before court on Nov 16 after the court examined questions of law formulated by the customs department in SCRA filed against order of Tribunal passed in favor of the petitioner/owner of vehicle. The bench noted that questions of law were not formulated as required.
