KARACHI: MCC Port Qasim has recovered a sum of Rs5.8 million approximately from M/s Engro foods Limited, which the company had short-paid through mis-declaration of sixth schedule.
On the directives of Collector Saeed akram, Additional Director Yasin Murtaza and Deputy Colletor Ihsan Shah strengthened post release verification. During the course of scrutiny it was found that M/s Engro imported a consignment declared to contain Nollibel Z151 from different countries and claimed the sixth schedule under PCT 0404.9000, which is not applicable.
Principal Appraiser Shahid Rizvi and Appraising Officer Anwar Zeb conducted the scrutiny and audit and had this willful misuse of concessionary schedule gone un-detected, national exchequer would have suffered a loss of Rs7.482 million. Of this amount, MCC Port Qasim has recovered a sum of Rs5.8 million approximately.
