KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation (enforcement) Karachi has served a contravention report on M/s Nestle Pakistan Limited for evading government’s legitimate revenue through under-declaring the values of imported goods.

Incidence of evaded duty and taxes has been worked out to the tune of Rs11.32 million.

A credible information was received by Director I&I Customs Enforcement Karachi Samina Wajid that M/s Nestle Pakistan Limited is engaged in the importation and clearance of the consignment of Sweet Whey Powder on under invoiced value despite the fact assessable value of the item has been determined at $1.54/kg vide Valuation Ruling No.789/2016.

Therefore, import data of M/s Nestle Pakistan Limited was scrutinized under the supervision of Deputy director Shah Faisal, which revealed that five consignments  of Sweet Whey Powder  were got cleared by the aforesaid importer from MCC Port Qasim by clearing agent M/s AAS Enterprises at value of $ 0.91/kg and ignored the Valuation Ruling No.789/2016 which is $1.54/kg and have caused heavy loss to the government exchequer in terms of duty & taxes.

M/s Nestle Pakistan Limited in collusion with clearing agent M/s AAS Enterprises (Pvt.) Ltd are involved in the clearance of imported goods by mis-declaring the value of Sweet Whey Powder and have violated the provisions of Customs Act, 1969

A contravention report is served on M/s Nestle Pakistan and matter is pending with Collectorate of Adjudication.
