KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Arshad Hussain Khan allowed Colgate Palmolive Pakistan to file amended title in a petition filed by the company to make Collector Adjudication I, West a party in the case.

The other respondent include Assistant Director, Input/Output, Co-efficient Organisation, Pakistan Customs.

The counsel for petitioner Ejaz Ahmed advocate at the outset of hearing told the bench that on the basis of a single contravention report, a show cause was issued to the petitioner. He maintained that a show cause notice has been received by the petitioner alleging that he has evaded legitimate revenue of rupees 137,905,274. The petitioner claimed to have imported LAB (Linear Alkyl Benzene) while during scrutiny it was found to be LABSA (Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid) used  for manufacturing of detergent.

The counsel for the department opposed the miscellaneous application but the court after hearing the sides allowed the CMA fixing  May 30 as next date of hearing.

It was alleged in the show cause notice that violations fall within Section 32 (1), 32 (2) read with Section 7 of the Customs Act 1969 read with section  3,6 7-A and 34 of the Sales Tax Act 1990 along with Section 48 of the Income Tax Act.
