KARACHI: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Yosuf Ali Sayeed on Thursday disposed of two identical constitution petitions pending since 2014 while ordering application of an order passed way back in 2014 declaring “Guide lines” issued by custom officials of no legal value.

The bench earlier heard Ghulam ullah Sheikh advocate of Franklin Law Associates who represented the petitioners Sohail Engineering and Uni Champion Trading House. The counsel relied on a judgment passed on 18-9-2014 by a division bench headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Junaid Ghaffar. The said bench asked the custom officials that without being influenced by the guideline issued re-assessment of the imported consignment be made for determining the custom duty and other levies.
