KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan on Wednesday reserved orders in a constitution petition filed by one Muhammad Shoaib who imported different goods from different sources around the world.
The bench earlier heard counsel for petitioner and counsel for Respondent. The counsel for respondent maintained that the heavy duty was being imposed under a Valuation Ruling which is arbitrary and illegal. The petitioner claimed a duty at a rate of US $ 50 cents while Customs Valuation determined custom duty and other taxes to be around US $ 11 .
Masooda Siraj counsel for Valuation department told the court that petitioner agree to pay US $ 07 but later it became impossible for them to buy their assets. The bench after a detailed hearing reserved the judgment.
