KARACHI: Customs Quetta has seized 187 kg of charas from the secret cavities of a car near Kuchlak.
Pakistan Customs is pursuing a rigorous anti-smuggling campaign. Chief Collector Enforcement South Mohammad Zahid Khokhar has advised all formations to observe no leniency and eliminate the menace of smuggling.
Collectors MCC Quetta Saeed Jadoon and MCC Gwadar Saeed Akram have played an admirable role and have controlled the movement of smuggled and non-duty paid goods including narcotics to a maximum extent. As much as 8.0 tons of charas has been seized by Customs Quetta in the last five months.
Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Amanullah Tareen received information pertaining to the movement of narcotics. Accordingly, all measures were taken and a Suzuki vehicle was spotted near Kuchlak at Quetta-Chaman Road. Upon examination, 187 Kg of Charas was recovered. The driver of the vehicle however managed to escape.
The fruit traders and vendors are said to be the key players in this drugs business. Mostly, the Balochistan based fruit traders having business in Karachi transport the booty and the fruit sellers are the distributors.
