KARACHI: The hearing of a constitutional petition challenging assessment of Tooth Paste, Face Powder, Face and Skin Creams, Lotions etc under new Valuation ruling (VR) 848 of 2016 dated 6-5-2016 was adjourned till Monday, July 18.
Earlier the bench comprising Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Arshad Hussain heard advocate Ghullamullah, counsel for petitioner ARG Enterprises who citing Chairman FBR, Collector Customs, Appraisement-East and Director Valuation respondents, maintained that petitioner is importer of tooth paste from international sources including Dubai. The Customs officials assessed his consignment under new Valuation Ruling which is on higher side. The new VR was not decided in compliance of section 25 and 25-A of the Customs Act 1969 and instead on “Fall Back method”. The counsel submitted that information and prices available on internet formed the basis of new VR.
At today’s hearing, The counsel for respondents sought time to go through the petition and requested the court for a short adjournment. The bench allowing the request adjourned further proceedings till Monday, July 18.
