KARACHI: The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has advised MCC Appraisement West to submit a reply to the allegations leveled by Sharjeel Jamal of M/s U Trade that he was being subjected to discrimination by the authorities.
Sharjeel Jamal is booked dozens of FIRs in the switch bill of lading case wherein M/s AMI Pakistan in connivance with importers including Sharjeel Jamal for clearing banned goods as well as claiming inadmissible concessionary benefits through manipulation in the documents.
Sharjeel Jamal submitted that he had lodged several complaints with the senior customs officers regarding the involvement of customs officials in various wrong doings including replacement of transshipment cargo during the transit.
He submitted that the department was pursuing a vendetta against him and he was booked in several FIRs despite the fact that over a thousand importers and clearing agent were issued adjudication notices in the similar case, but no FIRs were lodged against them. He maintained the goods were cleared by the Customs assessment staff and through due procedure but no action was taken against them.
FTO advised the MCC Appraisement West to reply to the allegations leveled against them.
