KARACHI: Customs Quetta has seized large quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs41.274 million in several operations during first two weeks of March. The seized goods include cloth, food grain, tea, tyres, oil, cigarettes, oil/ghee, electronics etc.
Collector Customs Quetta Saeed Jadoon, Additional Collector Dr Fareed, Deputy Collector Mahabat Khan have expanded the ambit of their crackdown and far-flung and declared sensitive areas are being approached.
It is said that the timely movement of the Customs department in curbing the smuggling of contraband goods has put positive impact in curbing the crimes besides the swift actions also proved blockade for the supply line of terrorism-financing, anti social elements activities and designs of banned outfits in disturbing law and order in the country.
FBR has declared Peshawar, Quetta and Gwadar sensitive in the pretext of smuggling. Well reputed and competent officers have been posted at these destinations with the directives to root out supply of smuggled goods.
