KARACHI: The World Customs Day will be celebrated enthusiastically at Karachi Port by the Pakistan Custom formations on January 26, 2016.

The celebrations will begin with hoisting of national flag by Chief Collector, Enforcement  South Zahid Khokar at Custom House at 9 am. The Collector Customs, additional, deputy and assistant collectors, principal appraisers and appraisers will also attend the event.

Nisar Muhammad Khan Chairman Federal Board of Revenue will be the chief guest at the certificate distribution ceremony at Directorate of Training at 1 pm to acknowledge the performance of the Customs officials particularly officials of recovery departments. He will also visit the newly constructed Edlejee Dinshaw Road that was built recently to provide a safe access to the importers and exporters besides visitors to the Karachi Port.

The third event of the Day will be held at Mauripur where smuggled foreign liquor and other contraband items will be destroyed marking the effective anti-smuggling activities by the Pakistan Customs.

The Custom House Karachi on this occasion is tastefully decorated to mark the World Customs Day.

Similar programmes are chalked out to mark the Day at Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and other Customs formations in the major cities of the country.

In Lahore a flag hoisting ceremony would be held at Custom House on Nabah Road. The contraband goods will be destructed near Wagah Border. Identical programmes will also be held at Pehsawar, Quetta and other major formations of Pakistan.
